Don't Love Sushi? A Guide to Teriyaki and Tempura Cooking

Last updated 6 years ago

Sushi is a favorite among many Japanese restaurant guests—but not everyone loves this traditional Japanese treat! You don’t have to go hungry when you dine at one of the many wonderful Kabuki restaurants, because we offer a variety of great teriyaki and tempura options:

  • This term refers to both the style of cooking used as well as the sauce used to enhance the flavors of various types of meat and fish. Teriyaki is a popular style in Japanese cuisine, providing the perfect alternative for any diners who aren’t interested in trying sushi, sashimi, or rolls. Different types of meat and fish, such as beef, chicken, and salmon, are marinated in a teriyaki sweet soy sauce and then are either grilled or broiled. Here at Kabuki, you can find a variety of delicious teriyaki options to try on our popular Japanese menu. This includes classics like chicken, beef, or salmon teriyaki, as well as an assortment of combination plates and Boat entrée specials.

  • This term refers to a special final step in the cooking process that is used to transform a number of classic and popular dishes. Tempura options are lightly-battered and deep fried after being prepared. Ingredients such as fresh fish and vegetables can be enhanced and provide a better blend of flavors after being deep-fried tempura style. Unlike other frying styles, tempura-style frying gives foods a lighter taste and flavor, and does not produce the same grease that other fried foods may produce. Here at Kabuki, you can try our tasty shrimp and vegetable tempura or one of our combinations, such as chicken teriyaki with shrimp and vegetable tempura or tonkatsu with shrimp and vegetable tempura.

You can enjoy many more delicious teriyaki or tempura dishes when you eat at one of of Kabuki’s many great locations. Check out our website to start learning more about our Japanese restaurant and fabulous menu!
